Boxers were originally bred to hunt animals and when they would hunt if their ears were down they could get bit by the animals...which is also why they have their tails cropped. Today it's illegal in some countries to crop the ears but the American Kennel Club still allows it so people who want to show their boxers may have a better chance winning if the ears are cropped because the ears have been like that forever so it shows what the breed standard looks like.
Why do they get their ears propped up? Is it just for looks?
